    Responsibilities

    The Summer Employment Opportunity Program (SEOP) provides temporary summer employment opportunities to children, step-children and spouses of Mayo Clinic employees enrolled in a college degree granting program of study, and is intended to help supervisors accommodate employee vacation requests when seasonal work volumes are high.

    Maintains the grounds of the Mayo Foundation House Properties. Maintenance must be performed in a manner that promotes safe conditions, litter free, lush turf, beautiful flowers and plants during the growing season. Responsible for set up of all events held in these properties and on the grounds of these properties. Provides some building and equipment maintenance.

    Qualifications

    One year of experience in a commercial Nursery/Landscape operation and high school diploma/GED required. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Able to work in a variety of conditions, such as outdoor heat and cold, noise, dust and hazardous materials. Ability to operate different types of equipment. Should have good mechanical, electrical and plumbing aptitude. May work overtime, evenings or weekends for special events or weather conditions. Work requires occasional heavy lifting, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling and exposure to all weather conditions. Requires good communication skills, ability to solve problems and adapt to different situations. Must possess the ability to do a variety of tasks on any given day.

    Additional Qualifications

    • Must be the child, step-child, or spouse of a current Mayo Clinic employee.

    • Must be currently enrolled in a degree granting program.

    • Must be returning to college in the fall.

    • Must be able to work a minimum of 10 weeks.

    • Must be 18 years of age or older by the start of the program.
