    Responsibilities

    1. Patient And Ancillary Room Cleaning

    Routinely follows schedule for high dusting and sanitizing.

    Routinely follows schedule for trash removal - keeps containers interior and exterior clean.

    Routinely follows schedule for floor dusting/vacuuming and wet mopping.

    Routinely follows schedule for checkout cleaning.

    1. Restroom Cleaning

    Thoroughly cleans all fixtures with germicidal solution.

    Ensures all paper supplies and hand soaps are replaced when necessary.

    Performs proper dust mopping and wet mopping.

    Performs proper high dusting and sanitizing.

    Empties trash containers and keeps containers interior and exterior clean.

    1. Office/Department Cleaning

    Routinely follows schedule for high dusting and sanitizing.

    Routinely follows schedule for trash removal - keeps containers interior and exterior clean.

    Routinely follows schedule for floor dusting/vacuuming and wet moping.

    1. Equipment Care And Maintenance

    Cleans all equipment used and shift's end and restocks cleaning cart.

    Wraps vacuum cords neatly, checks daily and replaces vacuum bags as needed.

    Takes electrically powered equipment out of service and notifies supervision immediately when problems with machinery are found.

    1. Departmental/Job Skills

    Follows clocking in/out and signing in/out instructions.

    Obtains and returns pager as appropriate.

    Appropriately responds to all pager and/or telephone calls/instructions.

    Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

    Follows schedules and assignments as issued.

    Remains flexible with work schedules and accepts assignments in other areas.

    Attends all mandatory hospital and department inservices/meetings.

    Removes trash collected to appropriate trash area. Follows all regulatory guidelines.

    Responds to spills and emergencies as directed.

    Utilizes wet floor signs appropriately.

    Mixes and uses chemicals correctly and safely.

    Utilizes bed-tracking system.

    Practices safety precautions at all times.

    Performs additional duties as assigned by hospital/departmental supervision or management.

    Qualifications

    Requirements: High School diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test or equivalent preferred. Requires self-discipline to perform work specifically assigned. Requires a display of personal attitude, courtesy and appearance for others to look favorably on the institution (much contact with public). Requires understanding both verbal or written communications and instructions. Must be able to interpret written warnings as posted on doorways and chemicals. Requires use of judgment making decisions adherent to standards. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Requires continuous contact with cleaning solutions.

    Experience: Prior general cleaning experience in the Healthcare environment or in the service industry is desirable.

    Physical Requirements: This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, and hearing, sometimes exerting in excess of 20-100 pounds of force.

    The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform daily activities, operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, and to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

    The worker is subjected to both outside and inside environmental conditions (including extreme cold and extreme heat), noise sufficient for the worker to have to shout to be heard, vibration, and hazards (including electrical current, high places, and exposure to heat). Also, frequently in close quarters and exposed to chemicals and infectious diseases.

    Skills: Must possess independent thinking and process judgment capabilities. Must have the ability to learn and employ the processes involved in hard and soft floor care and cleaning of other environmental surfaces within departmental responsibilities.
