As a member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Rooms is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the hotel General Manager.

    The Director of Rooms oversees hotel services including Front Desk operations, Housekeeping, Guest Services and Concierge . Maximizes room revenues & occupancy by analyzing daily status rates & makes adjustments accordingly. Manages large events & ensures high volume occupancy special requirements. Analyzes rate variances, monitors credit reports & maintains close observation of daily house counts. Coordinates major projects such as renovations, capital expenditures, & equipment changes. Conducts weekly Rooms Divisions meetings, including monthly financial review with subordinate managers & senior hotel directors. Prepares revenue & occupancy forecasting & monitors labor expenses through schedule approval process. Hires, manages & trains subordinate managers & employees.

    Duties include

    • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the Rooms operations in the front and back of the house

    • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans

    • Experience supervising all Rooms Departments

    • Ability to assimilate operational statistics quickly and see how they can be used to enhance position of property

    • Experience developing standards and operating procedures.

    • Have dealt with special projects

    • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and lead diverse teams while fostering an inclusive environment.

    • Proven experience in directing and motivating a team. Must have a minimum of four years varied management experience in the hotel/resort industry. Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred

    • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills

    • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

    • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English

    • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

    • Maintain communications with Corporate Teams

    • Constantly monitor expenses in labor, materials and third party agreements to align with budgetary goals and be in direct correlation with occupancy

    • Assist all departments with their financial performance. Work with department managers and mentor them to successfully complete their monthly P&L goals

    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget by providing labor, operations and expense costs.

    • Properly review and document Colleague Development

    • Audit accounting and credit procedures to assure adherence to policy

    • Conduct a weekly walkthrough of all public spaces and a reasonable representation of guest rooms with Director of Housekeeping and Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer maintaining proper documentation of action items and completion dates. In addition, daily walkthrough to insure proper appearance and safety standards in all public areas

    • Physically inspect all accommodations scheduled for VIP arrivals. Guide and mentor managers to control procurement of materials as determined by Annual Budget and as modified by actual business levels

    • Strong skills with yield management, cost controls and the ability to analyze a Profit and Loss Statement. Must have strong working knowledge of Accounting systems, Property Management Systems and other business applications. Familiar with OSHA, local Department of Health regulations and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardizations and resources exist. Must be able to communicate problem resolution in a positive and diplomatic manner to both guests and colleagues

    • Previous proven experience with Employee Development including recruitment, coaching and counseling, performance management, separations, worker's compensation issues and separation of employment (and where applicable, prior experience working with a Collective Bargaining Agreement)

    Salary: $120,000 - $135,000
