The task involves porting waveforms to a Joint Tactical Radio system (JTRS) surrogate radio. Candidate will need to be a self-starter that displays an unusual amount of initiative. The task also involves providing customer support during Lab and Field tests and demonstrations. This position will entail working with Software Definded Radios (SDRs) for mobile ad-hoc wireless and wired networks, networking protocols and network security protocols. Familiarity with network security concepts is desirable. Experience in the following technologies is desirable: JTRS, Software Communications Architecture (SCA), SDR, Object-oriented analysis/Object-oriented design (OOA/OOD), developing to JTRS standard APIs, SCA specifications, CORBA and UML. Expertise in some of the following areas is desirable: Waveform porting, VHSIC hardware description language (VHDL, Altera field-programmable gate array (FPGA) & JTRS Surrogate Radio (JSR). A working knowledge of C/C++ software development using Real Time Embedded Operating Systems (RTOS) (Green Hills Integrity, Wind River VxWorks) and component based software.
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues.
Competencies
General• Collaboration
Works effectively and cooperatively with fellow employees, peers from other teams and/or parts of the organization and occasionally external customers; establishes and maintains good working relationships by actively involving others and helping them feel valued, appreciated, and included in discussions. Places higher priority on team and/or organization goals than on own goals. Offers to provide help and/or leadership to other teams and/or employees and occasionally external customers when they need assistance.
• Customer Focus
Makes customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive customer relationships; uses information to understand customers' circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs; periodically becomes involved in sharing information with customers to build their understanding of issues and capabilities; considers how actions or plans will affect customers; responds quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems; assists higher graded employees and/or project team leaders in implementing ways to monitor and evaluate customer concerns, issues, and satisfaction and to anticipate customer needs.
• Systems Thinking
Evaluates job tasks and processes on how well they help meet team objective(s); identifies non-value-adding components and barriers. Formulates change strategies; seeks input from others to evaluate options for change and encourage buy-in. Makes appropriate changes to job/role structures and processes by communicating effectively and focusing on new skill development. Uses accurate measurement systems to monitor the implementation.
