AvalonBay, an S&P 500 company, is in the business of developing, redeveloping, acquiring, and managing luxury apartments in the multi-family housing industry. We are looking for the right candidate to join our Financial Services Team.
Responsibilities: * The Property Tax Analyst will be responsible for reviewing property tax assessments, calculating value internally, procuring value from outside consultants and determining the need for appeal. * In this position you will review the performance of outside consultants to make certain that the company is receiving high quality representation. You will also accompany consultants to hearings and court proceedings where appropriate. * You will act as a point of contact for the Development Group when development communities are preparing budgets and pro-formas. * In this important role you will manage the annual property tax budgeting process for all communities in the portfolio. * You will also proactively access information for special tax arrangements (PILOT agreements) and acquisitions with tax credit implications. * This position will also require you to maintain and update a property tax database and assist company associates with property tax forecasting.
Qualifications: * A minimum of five years real estate tax experience in the commercial/business sector. * Experience calculating or setting real property assessment values. * Background in formal negotiations at property tax appeals cases at the hearing, board, or court level. * Candidate must have strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as playing a role as part of a team. * Highly detail-oriented and organized.
